Update #3 - Christmas Eve

Ken Shackelford December 24, 2008

Again, we thank you for your continued faithful prayers. We can feel the strength of His Spirit pouring over our son and those of us with him. He shows significant signs of improvement and then some signs of regression. Obviously, every moment of improved ability is pure joy to our hearts, every sign of dificulty pains us. Below is a paragraph from a friend of ours Dr. David Jackson:

Praying for healing, praying for marked improvement today. Encelphalitis is always mysterious, 2 steps forward then 1 back for anywhere from days to months. 2 plus 2 rarely equals 4 with this disease (if this is what he has). Most cases that I have seen do ok, but many cases take a lot of time. I am confident that dozens if not 100s have seen and been blessed by your family's faith through this. Nothing, no word or action, will be wasted. Praying, David

Robbie still has a lot of pain from his neurologically induced cramps and spasms which are now going up into his hips and back as well has his legs and feet. He has thrush in his mouth which is annoying him. His mind is as sharp as ever. He has built one Bionicle and is in the middle of his legos when his pain cecedes long enough. Sometimes, he lacks the strength to snap some of them and gets a little impatient with his dad's slowness in figuring out what to put where (we need another Lego expert like Austin Bailey around).

He is moving himself around a lot more and has walked down the hall a couple of times. They moved us into a much larger room because of all the visitors who want to come see him. [4D3]

We are so humbled by the constant love and support we've been shown by so many friends and family. Please continue to remember us as we try to figure out how to do Christmas with our family.

Praise God for the Son's willingness to become a child like us.

In faith for healing, Ken

Yes, Shack has a blog (several in fact).

The Shacklog will be Shack’s blog of the present, his thoughts and family news.

The Backlog will, you guessed it, look back on Shack family days gone by.

One special blog that you see in the drop down menu is Stripes.  I have ported these over from our Facebook updates that we did when Robbie was in the hospital in late '08 - '09.

Finally, 10k is a somewhat poetic devotional of praise, with the plan to ultimately give 10,000 reasons to sing praise to my Lord.

I love writing but don't find the time to do it much.  I've never done a blog because it seems that no one ever reads them. Meh.  I guess it doesn't really matter.  Maybe my grandkids will browse through it someday.
