Update #11 - New Year's Day 2009

Ken Shackelford January 1, 2009

"At the same time, the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we don’t know how to pray for what we need. But the Spirit intercedes along with our groans that cannot be expressed in words. The one who searches our hearts know what the Spirit has in mind. The Spirit intercedes for God’s people the way God wants him to."

- Romans 8:26-27

Right now, we don’t even know what to say or ask prayers for. The above verse comforts us because there are times I am able to pray nothing but tears, groans and cries of “Oh God, be with my son, heal my son” over and over and over again.

He did not sleep much last night. His spasms are hard and continual. He is unable to communicate other than reaching out with his right hand to touch my face when I ask him to. His left arm is unable to do anything but be draw up tight next to his body. We can’t even stretch it out during his brief times of relaxation. We don’t know if he is getting better, worse, or staying the same. We feel we know nothing at all.

God knows.

It is our prayer that 2009 will be a year beginning with miracles. The miracle of hearing our son speak, seeing him eat food, do school work, throw a football, ride his wave board with perfect balance.

Thank you for joining in prayer with us.

With love,

Ken

Yes, Shack has a blog (several in fact).

The Shacklog will be Shack’s blog of the present, his thoughts and family news.

The Backlog will, you guessed it, look back on Shack family days gone by.

One special blog that you see in the drop down menu is Stripes.  I have ported these over from our Facebook updates that we did when Robbie was in the hospital in late '08 - '09.

Finally, 10k is a somewhat poetic devotional of praise, with the plan to ultimately give 10,000 reasons to sing praise to my Lord.

I love writing but don't find the time to do it much.  I've never done a blog because it seems that no one ever reads them. Meh.  I guess it doesn't really matter.  Maybe my grandkids will browse through it someday.
