Robbie with Robbie.

Robbie with Robbie.

Update #12 - New Year's Day Evening

Ken Shackelford January 1, 2009

We just spent quite a lot of time with Dr. Sharp, our main Neurologist who has been overseeing Robbie. He has been great. He let us see the MRI and showed us the area of his brain effected (it is significant). He also spent some time helping us with expectations of what we might expect under normal conditions. He would hope to see some fairly significant improvement over the next couple of weeks but that it may take 6 weeks or more before he could get to the point to even begin to rehab. He said it may be anywhere from 3 months to a year before knowing just how much of Robbie’s abilities might return.

We are thankful to know that, should God go along with this plan, he will give us the strength we need and, should God decide to work a miracle, we will give Him all the glory.

PLEASE PRAY FOR A MIRACLE OF HEALING TO TOUCH OUR SON.

He finally went to sleep around noon today. I never knew how blessed we are to be able to rest. It is why the seventh day was good and made holy, I’m sure.

We love you all,

Ken

Yes, Shack has a blog (several in fact).

The Shacklog will be Shack’s blog of the present, his thoughts and family news.

The Backlog will, you guessed it, look back on Shack family days gone by.

One special blog that you see in the drop down menu is Stripes.  I have ported these over from our Facebook updates that we did when Robbie was in the hospital in late '08 - '09.

Finally, 10k is a somewhat poetic devotional of praise, with the plan to ultimately give 10,000 reasons to sing praise to my Lord.

I love writing but don't find the time to do it much.  I've never done a blog because it seems that no one ever reads them. Meh.  I guess it doesn't really matter.  Maybe my grandkids will browse through it someday.
